The Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) has demanded an apology from the Karnataka police for arresting two of its leading cricketers who were in Bangalore to partake in the domestic CK Nayudu cricket tournament.
Police on Friday registered a case against two former officials of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) following allegations of misappropriation of funds, received by the body from the BCCI.
In its chargesheet filed in a special court in Srinagar, the CBI alleged that Abdullah as the association president at that time had connived with the treasurer of JKCA and others for undue siphoning off and misappropriation of funds, a CBI spokesperson said in New Delhi.
He was earlier questioned in the case for over six hours on Monday. His son and former chief minister Omar Abdullah expressed his displeasure and tweeted the party statement on his father's questioning with the comment: 'This on a day when my father turns 84!'
The Enforcement Directorate had filed the money laundering case after taking cognisance of a Central Bureau of Investigation FIR and chargesheet.
The 82-year-old former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister received the ED summons a day after the formation of the People's Alliance led by him was announced on October 15.
